When does the season start?

SMAA Netball Club runs two seasons, Summer & Winter.

The Winter season generally starts in April, and the summer season starts in October.

Registrations for the Winter season close in January, registrations for Summer season close in August each year. Exact dates can be found on our calendar when they are released. 

When are games played?

Winter games are played every Saturday, in three time slots. 12:00pm, 1.30pm , 3pm, 4.30pm 

Summer games are played Tues - Friday nights. Further info can be found here.

Exact game times are unknown until SAUCNA release the program, generally a week or two before the season starts.  

Where are games played?

Winter Junior Games are played either at our home courts, 3 Military Road, West Beach or at an away location, according to the teams program. Exact locations are unknown until SAUCNA release the program, generally a week or two before the season starts.

Once the program is released you will be given a copy by your team manager, and it will be available to view on teamapp.

All winter senior games (17U & OPEN) are played at the association courts.

All Summer games for all age groups are played at the association courts.

How do I find the location of an away game?

It is always best to confirm with your team manager the exact location of an away game. Often clubs have more than one location.  SAUCNA lists venues and maps on their website here.

When & where is training?

In Winter all teams train at our home courts, 3 Military Road, West Beach.  The time and day of training is decided by the coach and team at the meet & greet, which is held after teams have been allocated. 

In Summer training is at the coaches discretion.

What are the season fees?

The fees for Winter 2025 are $300 per Junior player, $320 per senior player.

Does SMAA accept Sports Vouchers?

SMAA Is an approved provider for sports vouchers.

When are fees due?

Fees for both the summer & winter seasons are due in full prior to the first game. 

How do I register to play netball with SMAA?

SMAA runs a separate database for each season, so its important to ensure that you register for the correct season.

If you are a summer player &  have already arranged to be part of a summer team please refer to the team manager/coach for a registration invitation link.   

If you would like to play SUMMER netball with SMAA & you are new to our club, or haven't been asked to join an existing friendship team you can register as a SUMMER individual.  SMAA will do their best to place you in an existing team that is looking for extra players, but we cannot guarantee placement.  Please note that our summer season is called the friendship season, as teams are based on friendship groups, not skill levels.

If my registration is accepted, am I guaranteed a place in a team?

If you are new to our club you are not automatically guaranteed placement in a team, it will depend on final numbers.  All registered players are invited to trial.  If we cannot place you in a team after trials you will be refunded any monies paid and  placed on the wait list.

SMAA Prioritises registrations in the following order. Past Winter Season players, Past Summer Season Players, Siblings, Other New players.

How do I updated my registration/personal information?

Each players personal information is held on their player portal  PlayHQ, which is created at the time of registration. Note that the email address you first register with on PlayHQ will be the email address always connected to your profile.

PlayHQ is where all of your player information is stored, and it is the player/parents responsibility to ensure that this information in correct. Especially contact details, email addresses, medical information and position preferences.  Once you have registered a portal is created and can be accessed by the quick link at the top of our website, or using the members drop down menu. 

When are trials?

Trials for the winter season are generally held at our home courts in early February each year. Notification of trials is emailed to current members & posted on facebook when registrations open.

There are no trials for the summer season, as all teams are friendship based.

Do I wear SMAA uniform to trials?

No, uniform is not necessary. Just sporting attire & netball shoes are required.

Is there a cost to trial?

Players must register before trials and will therefore fees would have been paid which covers the trial.

Who do I contact if I cant attend trials?

The trial managers contact information will  be on the official trials notice, which is emailed & posted on facebook.

When will I know what team I have been placed in?

You will be notified by email/text and a facebook post when teams have been released. This is generally a week after the final trials.  The exact date will be noted on the official notification of trials.

To see your time at any time you can login to your player portal.  There is a tab 'Team Members'.  This will show your current team information.

What is 'Meet and Greet'?

Meet & Greet is where teams come together for the first time.  If teams don't have coaches or managers these positions are filled, and the team works out a suitable training day & time.  Further information about the season is distributed at this event.  Players just wear casual dress, as there will be no training, its a social occasion.

What is the required uniform and how can I get it?

How will I know what's happening around the club?

SMAA uses many forms of communication. 

You will be contacted by email for most the direct correspondence from SMAA.

SMAA issues three newsletters per year.  February (Start of winter), July (End of Winter), November (start of Summer) - these are all emailed to members & are available from the website.

You may be contacted by SMS by the club if the matter is time sensitive
